Despre Montalcino

Montalcino is a hill town in southern Tuscany, known above all for the red wine that carries its name. The old centre sits high above the surrounding countryside, with stone lanes, a fortress, and long views over vineyards and olive groves. It is a quiet place, best suited to travellers who like slow days, good food, and a glass of wine at the end of them. A stay here usually means a villa in the countryside outside town, where mornings are still and the days are yours to shape. You can drive to nearby villages, walk among the vines, or simply sit outside as the light changes. Evenings tend to be long and unhurried, with dinner and a bottle of the local wine.
