Despre Lombardy

Lombardy is northern Italy's lake country, where the Alps drop down to water so still it mirrors the mountains. It is a region of quiet villages, ferry crossings, lakeside promenades and a climate that shifts with the seasons. People come here to walk, swim in summer, take boats between towns, and eat well without the crowds of the bigger Italian cities. Our places to stay in Lombardy are villas. A villa suits families, groups of friends or couples who want space and privacy rather than a hotel room, with the freedom to cook, linger over breakfast and settle in for a week. Days tend to be slow: a morning by the water, an afternoon out, an evening on the terrace as the light goes down.
