Zermatt

Zermatt is a car-free mountain village in the Valais Alps, known for its traditional wooden chalets and for the Matterhorn, the peak that rises above the rooftops. The village sits at high altitude, so winters bring dependable snow and summers stay cool and clear. People come here to walk, climb, ski and ride the mountain railways and cable cars, and to eat and shop along the car-free main street. It suits anyone who likes their days outdoors and their evenings quiet. A stay here is simple and unhurried. You wake to mountain air, step out into the village on foot, and let the trains and lifts do the climbing for you. Our cabins keep things plain and comfortable, a base for long days on the trails or the slopes and slow evenings in. Bring warm layers, good shoes and time to spare.
