The villa – a hop and a skip from the prize-winning beach of Santa Maria del Focalla, and close to the famous Baroque towns of Ragusa, Scicli and Modica — has only just been completed, so every aspect, from its limpid white interiors and minimalist terraces to the stylish, deftly-lit pool, are light, airy and pristine. The villa is all on one level, and the design is fluid, with internal spaces opening onto the spacious contemporary porticoes that lead to the pool and garden. Summer life can be lived on the porticoes – there is even an outdoor kitchen. The living room is a huge, serene open space, giving onto a stylish contemporary kitchen. A fireplace ensures comfort for those who want to visit out of season. There are three bedrooms (two ensuite). The focal point of the garden is the rectangular pool YOUR VILLA AT A GLANCE 3 bedrooms(two doubles and one twin) of which two are ensuite A third bathroom Spacious open-plan living room with fireplace and fully equipped contemporary kitchen Spacious porticoes Outdoor kitchen Garden Swimming pool AMENITIES A/C Barbecue Bycicles Coffee machine Dishwasher External kitchen Heating Ipod dock Microwave Oven Pool Private parking TV Sat Washing machine Wi-Fi WE LIKE The choice between swimming in the sea and the spanking new swimming pool is a luxury indeed. The villa works so well – close to the beach, yet lovely and quiet, and very well organised for the barbeques and outdoor dinners that make summer holidays in Sicily so special. This area of SE Sicily is amazing. There are the incredible Baroque towns of Ragusa, Modica, Noto and Scicli nearby, but even little Ispica has a wonderful elliptical Baroque piazza and church, and there is definitely something special about being the only tourists in town. We also headed out to the countryside, for walks in the natural canyons like Forza Grande which runs between Ispica and Modica, and Cava Grande (where we went swimming in natural pools). The children loved chocolate tasting in Modica and seeing the traditional working flour mill at Cavallo d’Ispica. WE THINK This is a villa perfect for anyone who loves stylish contemporary living. The beach is in easy walking distance – a real boon in summer when seaside traffic can be very heavy – and with the fascinating Baroque towns of Ragusa, Scicli and Modica close by, the villa is also a superb base for a spring, autumn or even winter holiday.
